SEO for New Websites: What Actually Matters in the First 90 Days

SEO for New Websites: What Actually Matters in the First 90 Days

New websites don't need advanced SEO. They need the fundamentals done properly — because most sites never get even those right.

Days 1–7: make sure Google can read you

  • Submit your sitemap in Google Search Console
  • Check every important page is indexable (no stray "noindex" tags)
  • Fix any pages that return errors
  • Make sure the mobile experience works — Google indexes mobile-first

None of this is glamorous. All of it is mandatory.

Days 7–30: one page, one purpose

Every service you offer deserves its own page with its own title, heading and 500+ words of genuinely useful content. A single "Services" page listing everything is asking Google to rank you for nothing in particular.

Write titles the way people search: "Custom Website Design Services" will always beat "What We Do ✨".

Days 30–60: earn your structure

  • Add FAQ sections to service pages (and FAQ schema, so they can appear in rich results)
  • Interlink related pages naturally — service to service, blog to service
  • Publish your first two or three articles answering real questions your customers ask

Days 60–90: consistency beats intensity

One useful article a week for a year outperforms twenty articles published in a burst and then silence. Search engines — and readers — reward the habit, not the sprint.

What to ignore for now

Domain authority scores, keyword density percentages, and anyone promising "#1 rankings guaranteed." Foundations first; the rest is noise until you have traffic to optimise.

SEO for a new site isn't a trick. It's making it effortless for Google to understand who you help and how.

Our WordPress builds and custom websites ship with all of the above configured — but if you have an existing site, these steps are exactly where we'd start an audit.
